Instead of just a Dealer's Button that rotates around the table and provides each player a regular opportunity to be in the last-bet dealer's position, which is so important in any poker game, Position Poker™ has a second button in play. This one is known as the WINNER'S BUTTON.
The winner of a pot not only takes the money but also the WINNER'S BUTTON, which brings with it the preferred betting position in the hand that follows. In that next hand, the holder of the WINNER'S BUTTON is granted the position of acting after the Dealer Button holder in every round of betting EXCEPT when he is the Big Blind.
When the holder of the WINNER'S BUTTON is the Big Blind, he acts AFTER the Dealer's Button in every round of betting except PRE-FLOP, in which case he acts in turn (so he does not have to act before the Little Blind).Other than this exception, the holder of the WINNER'S BUTTON is skipped over in each round as every other player acts and is then returned to after the player with the Dealer's Button acts.
Therefore, in Position Poker™:
- PRE-FLOP: The holder of the WINNER'S BUTTON bets AFTER the Dealer Button but before the small blind, unless the holder of the WINNER"S BUTTON is the Big Blind. In that case he acts AFTER the small blind.
- AFTER THE FLOP: The holder of the WINNER'S BUTTON acts AFTER the holder of the Dealer Button -- ALWAYS.
- AFTER THE TURN CARD: The holder of the WINNER'S BUTTON acts AFTER the holder of the Dealer Button -- ALWAYS.
- AFTER THE RIVER CARD: The holder of the WINNER'S BUTTON acts AFTER the holder of the Dealer Button -- ALWAYS
Note: The WINNER'S BUTTON is ONLY AWARDED after a hand in which there is ONLY ONE WINNER and is not awarded to any player in a split or so-called chopped pot.
